The Best Food Market in London!
I cook. I go to farmers markets in London and cook really good sort of organic foods.

Borough Market has to be one of the best food markets in London by a country mile! It’s one of my favourites in any case, and I always manage to find a few new delicious things to eat every time I go.
This Sunday I've got plans to meet some friends in town at one of my favourite little Coffee Shops, a little place not far from London Bridge Station called The Monmouth Coffee Company. The Monmouth Coffee Company is recognised as a pioneer in the recent renaissance of cafe culture. The company imports a wide variety of single origin coffee beans from farms, estates and cooperatives around the coffee-growing world, which are then skilfully roasted in nearby Bermondsey. It’s just a little, cosy coffee shop that isn’t Costa or Starbucks. A little detour to explore Borough Market, which just happens to be literally around the corner, was therefore always going to happen.
If you fancy something savoury
I’m always slightly amazed by how many scrumptious things there are to eat at Borough Market in the often-forgotten borough of Southwark. From oysters and fresh seafood paella to steak barbecued on site and pulled lamb sliders.
There are spinach pastries from the Balkans, handmade organic mushroom pâté, hot pies with mash, hand-dived scallops and venison from Dorset, all totally yummy!
Then of course there are the stalls that sell fresh food to cook with. Stalls filled with lobsters, octopus and giant king crabs, and others that have more varieties of mushroom than I’ve ever seen in my life. There are butchers too, and traders who sell charcuterie from South Tyrol. There are East Sussex cheesemakers, amazing nut butters, buckets filled with exotic olives and ground spices too. All fresh, all delicious!
If you fancy something sweet
And we couldn’t help but to also ogle and try some of the sweet treats, Obviously!
Although each little morsel seems better than the last, my favourites include the squidgy doughnuts from the Bread Ahead stall…
And then there are the stalls filled with fudge. There’s raspberry fudge, mint fudge, matcha fudge, mango fudge, coffee fudge, gingerbread fudge… and about three dozen more types of fudge too!
And if fudge and doughnuts aren’t your thing? Well then there are brownies, baklavas, Turkish delight, artisanal chocolates, truffles, eclairs, cheesecakes, custard tarts, cookies, strudels and more kinds of cake than you could ever shake a stick at. Yum!
Oh, and there are even stalls selling goat’s milk ice cream :)
There’s also an array of great restaurants to eat at too. My favourite by far though has to be Arabica with its gorgeous Middle Eastern inspired dishes.
We normally order a few things to share, and particularly enjoy the grilled halloumi, lamb chops and chicken shish. Nom nom!
So there you have it, my day of adventure in Borough Market :)
