Work and life in genral went a little cazy jusy after Christmas, however, I'm back now for anyone that's interested. Easing back gently today with a nice little articel I came across in the Times Newspaper a few weeks ago!

Men display less brain activity when aroused than women, scientists have found – We needed a scientific study for this…… Really??

When Pfizer finally admitted defeat in its attempts to make a female Viagra, the company’s reasoning was simple. Women were just too complicated! Whereas in men it’s about hydraulics, in women “the brain is the crucial sexual organ”, their lead scientist said.

Now a study has hinted at evidence for the difference, which shows that far more of a woman’s brain seems to be stimulated on arousal than a man’s.

For the research, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, 20 men and 20 women were shown erotic film clips while being hooked up to two scanners. One was an MRI machine, looking at their brains. The other was a heat- seeking camera trained on their genitals, aiming to measure their arousal objectively.

The scientists were interested in the link between the extent to which people appeared to be turned on and how their brain was behaving. When women were aroused the corresponding brain stimulation was stronger and broader than in men. Though the difference was not huge, it was consistent.

“There were no brain regions in men with stronger brain-genital correlations than in women,” the scientists at McGill University, Canada, said. They said the results suggested that very different neurological processes were involved in male and female arousal.

Qazi Rahman, a senior lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, said the study was intriguing. “I think the finding that women have greater brain-genital correlations compared with men is interesting, and the combination of brain imaging with genital temperature measurement is innovative.”

However, he said that the effect was still quite small and contradicted some previous work. “I think it’s a case of wait and see if these findings are replicated before any further conclusions can be drawn.”

Men are still in denial then!!?!
