Strictly Brilliant!

So another season over, there’s been sequins and tears and dresses to die for and muscles and glitter and tantrums all stitched up with a healthy dose of joy and laughter, what am I talking about……… Strictly Come Dancing of course!

Saturday night saw the final of a much anticipated strictly season, a three-way battle between an 90s pop star who seems to morph from a work a day mum, albeit a yummy mummy into the beautiful icon we all remember from the 90s, a soap star with the most refined six pack I’ve seen in a long time and a sports presenter who at the beginning couldn’t put one foot in front of the other – but girl did that change!

Unusually – any single one of them could have taken the final, they are three of the best contestants I’ve seen for years so the scene was well and truly set.

I sent an invite to some friends and neighbours inviting them around for a Strictly Party;

Friday 17th December 2016

Strictly Come Party

Lisa and the Gang’s house

6pm til late

Dress Code:

Sparkles, sequins, glitter, gold, diamonds, anything goes!!

Champagne, Cava & Prosecco always welcome!

I’d made judges paddles out of cardboard and silver paper, (Blue Peter eat your heart out!), canapes, a hot pot, (Irish Stew!) and the drinks were on ice. The TV was on and the twenty or so guests crowded around.

The program started with the ubiquitous “Pro” team dance which was great followed by introductions and stories about each individual’s “Journey”. Ore Oduba, the sports presenter opened with a dance he’s wowed everyone with early in the season – a tribute to the late great Gene Kelly and American Smooth danced to Singing in the Rain – remarkably Gene Kelly’s widow was actually in the audience – needless to say he wowed once more and the tone was set for the evening’s entertainment, whooped and cheered on by my guests! We had the beautiful Louise more than matching Jennifer Beal’s moves in Flashdance and Danny Mac performing what I believe, in my very humble opinion, is the best dance ever performed by a celebrity male dancer in the history of strictly, a wonderful Samba danced to the wonderful Magalenha by Sergio Mendes.

No spoilers – if you want to know who won you’ll need to google it, needless to say a magical evening of friends, food, wine, dancing and music that turned out to be a very early morning – everyone had great fun, it was a simply brilliant night! Funny that I write this with just a tiny headache, totally self-inflicted but well earned J
